Solar Boss Pump Controller
This incredible solar pump controller has the following features built in:
Water sensor/level controller: Shuts off the power to the pump when desired level is achieved in the storage tank and restores power to pump when water level falls below desired depth.
Battery Charging and Charge controlling capabilities: The ability to incorporate batteries into your water pumping system without over charging them or pulling them below the recommended voltage and causing them harm. (Adding batteries to your system may or may not increase total gallons per day produced from your system. It will allow you to have the ability for your pump to run at night if the batteries receive a charge during the day from excess solar power not required to run the pump, and if the water level controller has the pump shut off during daylight hours the solar power will go to the batteries and charge them until full.)
Pulse Width Modulation and Automatic Impedance Matching: Some of the latest and greatest in power boosting and system performance enhancement. Helping to capture all of the available power from the modules and turn it into optimum usable energy for the pump. Helping your pump run better in low light situations and getting greater pump starting results on deeper well applications.
Designed for Direct Current (DC) Operation
Technical Data:
Built in Water Sensor: Using 2 conductor 18-20 ga. Outdoor ( weather resistant) solid or stranded wire, up to 500 feet in length, no tank switch needed, low power electronic sensing, 20 feet of Grey sensor wire included.
Reverse hookup protection for both battery and solar power.
If the Battery light flashes, reverse the wires (polarity).
If Solar Power Light flashes, reverse the wires (polarity).
Status Light will diagnose a situation:
1 Flash: Low Battery Input
2 Flashes: Motor is off (water sensor is activated)
3 Flashes: Normal Motor Run
4 Flashes: Over Current or Over Loaded Motor
5 Flashes: Low Solar Panel Voltage
6 Steady On: High Solar Panel Voltage (45+ may damage controller)
Solar Boss Controller is equipped with 3 small internal mode switches.
settings are: Switch 1 ON ; Battery charging/operation * OFF; Direct Solar
Switch 2 OFF ; Operating in 12 Volt mode. ON; 24 Volt mode
Switch 3 ON ; 30 Volt limit to motor. OFF; 36 Limit
*System can also run direct solar without batteries in this mode.
Maximum Capacity : 180 Watts (full load)
50 VDC unloaded (open)
36 VDC loaded (working)
5 Amp current
30 Volt Limit Switch— Will limit power (watts) to the motor to approximately 70%. This will allow the Solar Boss to be used with many of today's brush and brushless motors. The Solar Boss incorporates Weather Pac weather resistant snap plugs. We can supply matching wiring harnesses for most solar modules. If plugs are not desired they can be removed and controller wired directly. Wiring code’s are as the following: The Battery connection is the Red/Black wire next to the Water sensor wire.
2 Plug Male (Solar) 2 Plug Female (Pump) 2 Plug Male (Batteries)
Yellow– Solar Panel Positive Red– Motor Positive Red– Battery Positive
Green – Solar Panel Negative Brown– Motor Negative Black– Battery Negative
Grey Wire
White– Water Sensor
Black– Water Sensor
